Not the right place for this comment, but who has time to dig backwards?
What if all the “men” in the cast dressed the same? (I assume we play multiple parts.) What about some combination of t-shirts, cargo pants and boots that evoked both “skinhead” and “private security contractors?”
I second that. BJs has cargo pants, I noticed this very morning. Black t-shirts?
Hell yes!
And boots for stomping the shit out of some greasy Coriole muthafuckahs!
If we ALL let our hair grow, we can pull it back tight like Steven Segall or that ex-Navy Seal who writes books (seen them at library). Then we can let our hair down to play both bitches and Volscians.
Hell yes!
Do we have to get buff? Might be the motivation I need.
I’m hitting the AT in a couple of weeks, so I’m ON IT! Buff I shall be.
::letting hair grow::
Anyway, this scene is interesting, too. I read reviews of other productions this summer, and Volumnia’s motives are the question here. I will be interested in seeing how Marc approaches it.
You guys caught me just in time. I was going to get a haircut today, as a matter of fact.
Must re-read.
Thia scene lowered my opinion of Volumia to that of the traitorous tribunes.
I even read some essays about the play to make sure I wasn’t completely missing the point. Some agreed with me, some didn’t. It is after all, “my opinion”.
I think you’re more than probably correct. Most of the things I’ve read about the play suggest that Volumnia, having created the monster, now has to destroy him.
